Wow!! What a week it’s been here at Bracey Interiors – we’ve had great fun celebrating 50 years of Interior Design with our clients and friends – we hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as we have.
Reflecting over the last 50 years Michael Bracey started his business with his wife Anne, from a small shop in Alma Vale Road selling carpets and then soon progressed to selling curtains. At that time plain fabrics were all the rage but after a few years Clifton and indeed Bristol was to see its first ever Interior Design Showroom when they opened their second shop showcasing the latest designs from Warners, Bakers etc. Michael and Anne saw the beginning of many, know familiar names, such as Osborne & Little, Designers Guild etc. so its been an incredible journey watching the interiors market, change & to welcome so many amazing design houses over the years. In the 1980’s Michael & Anne moved their business into Clifton Village (taking over a 30 The Mall) where it soon became a complete treasure trove showcasing every imaginable Design House as well as accessories etc. In the late 1990’s the business then moved to the bottom of Waterloo Street where it continued to be a prominent and recognised name in Interiors.
Ben started in the family business in 1980 and after a few years left to work on the trade side for both Osborne & Little & Sahco Hesslein. It was no surprise that at some stage Ben would return to working with his own clients and he started his business formerly known as Curtain Workshop and then Design Workshop in Bristol in the late 1980’s. Some 9 years ago Michael took the decision to retire and Ben purchasing Michael Bracey Interiors and combined the two to create what is now known as Bracey Interiors Ltd. The Design Workshop still continues to grow offering a bespoke and comprehensive Interior Design Service for clients seeking to update or totally re-structure/refurbish their properties. After a few years with a rapidly expanding business it moved to larger premises at the top of Waterloo Street where it continues to be a nationally recognised business.
We have been extremely fortunate over the years to work for some amazing clients and not only have they seen the Bracey family grow, we have also charted their lives by following them from one home decoration project to another, not only locally but throughout the UK and abroad.
Bracey Interiors would not be where it is now without our loyal staff and creative workforce, some of whom have been with us for over 20 years. We have been incredibly fortunate and are very proud to say ‘Team Bracey’ – without their support and skills, Bracey Interiors wouldn’t have grown and our working life’s would have been all the duller without their friendship.
So to you all – our clients and our staff – we thank you for making Bracey Interiors reach 50 and we look forward to working with you all for many years to come.
Ben & Alison Bracey
